Cathy Butler-Cisneros, MSOT, OTR/L, GCFP

Occupational Therapist

Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner

About Cathy

I studied the Feldenkrais Method with Alan Questel and Linda and Russell Delman in Sonoma, California, graduating in 2000, after a Feldenkrais Functional Integration session helped me heal from a knee injury during my fast paced and athletic physical theatre training. I maintained a private practice for some years in Humboldt County, California before moving first to Los Angeles and then to Virginia where I am originally from.  I have worked with clients with a variety of issues including Lyme disease, chronic pain, movement limitations, injuries, and TMJ. I’ve also supported performing artists and athletes in refining their skill and taught classes for gardeners (based on Miriam Levenson’s Effortless Gardening Program), actors, and individuals with back and neck pain.

In 2012 returned to school, completing my masters degree in Occupational Therapy in 2014. I adore the OT profession and it is a wonderful complement to the Feldenkrais Method. OT takes a stand for healthy work-life balance that so many of us struggle with and it supports kids and adults in doing more of what is meaningful to them with dignity. As an OT, I have worked with students ages 3-21, primarily in the public schools in the Central Virginia area. I love that my work requires that I pull out my creativity and meet each student with curiosity, compassion, and playfulness.

Before Feldenkrais or OT I studied acting in undergrad, performed for a time, and then studied Physical Theatre, earning a certificate from the Professional Training Program at the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre. I taught theatre to students in the Humboldt County through the Dell’Arte Education Through Arts Program and at a public Magnet School for the Arts.
